Daily Outfit Post: Printed Pants

This past Friday, was a celebration since finals week was complete.  I had to work all day but that did not stop me from dressing on the wild side.

Printed pants are definitely a way to spice up a Friday at work.  I have always had a fear of wearing printed pants since I have a larger tush/thighs area.  After trying on these pants at Loft, I fell in love with them.  A girl at work actually told me that they made my legs look slimmer so that definitely calmed my fears!

Most people would pair these crazy pants with a neutral colored top but not me.  I wanted this outfit to stand out and let people take notice!  I think I might have pushed it a little with this necklace but I had to wear it, it's too pretty to not wear.

Are there any trends that you are afraid to try?  If so, let me know!

Daily Outfit Post: Black and Blue

With this week being the last week of regular classes, my days have been quite crazy.  I had class then work today so I had to throw my hair up and get ready for my day!  Of course, I picked today to do laundry so the only thing I had to wear were dresses.

I decided on an Ann Taylor dress that I found from Goodwill.  Yes, you read that correctly.. I said Goodwill.  Making trips to Goodwill are an extreme high for me because I never know what I am  going to find!

Outfit:
Dress: Ann Taylor from Goodwill
Blouse: Loft
Shoes: Payless Shoes
Earrings: Forever 21
This is definitely a new look for me but everyone at work approved of it, so I am guessing I did alright for taking a chance!

Have you ever taken a risky chance on an outfit? If so, let me know what it was!

Daily Outfit Post: Orange Giraffe Prints

Happy Friday the 13th ladies!

Today was an extremely awesome day for me, even though it was "suppose" to be unlucky!  I found the perfect outfit while looking through my closet this morning.  Whenever I went home last weekend to visit my family, my mom wanted to get rid of some of her older dresses, so of course I scooped them up! I took 3 good dresses that will definitely get their wear.

My favorite dress is the one I decided to wear today to work! It got so many compliments so I knew I had put together an awesome outfit, which is always good to hear!

My Outfit:
Giraffe Print Dress: Loft, couple of years old
Denim Jacket: Gap Outlet
Belt: Urban Outfitters
Shoes: Target

This outfit has 3 of my favorite all time pieces: Denim Jacket, Belt, & Shoes.  These three pieces can be worn many different ways so as a reader you might be seeing them a good bit in posts!  I don't know if you would still be able to find them in stores because I have had all three of these pieces for about 3 years now.

Do you have any favorite pieces that you tend to wear multiple times?  If so, let me know!

Hair - ology

Good morning/afternoon!

For the past 21 years of my life, I have never been a hair person.  I only know how to use a hairdryer and a straighter.  I have made some bad hair mistakes (see perm, super short cut, & dyed my hair BLACK) plus many more horrendous hair styles.

However, since the invention of the hair wand, I have been using it a lot more.  The wand I purchased is from Target, and can be found at this link.  It has to be the easiest thing to use!  I am also a big fan of The Beauty Department, created by Lauren Conrad & her friends.  This website is very helpful for ladies who aren't as good with their hair, makeup, and nails, which includes me!

This video helped me this morning while I fixed my hair and I greatly recommend it!

Here is the outcome of my hair:

Later on tonight, I will post the details to my outfit

Does anyone have any hair tutorials they want to share or any special tricks of the trade to help this lady who needs help, like favorite products?

Daily Outfit Post: leopard print & green pants

Hey ya'll!

This morning was difficult to figure out what to put on from my closet!  I had class & work so I wanted to wear clothes that were comfortable to walk across campus in but yet dressy enough for work!  I decided to go with my green pants & a leopard print top.  It was definitely a fun outfit to wear to work, I got plenty of compliments on it because of the green pants that made the entire outfit pop!  Finding pieces of clothing that make your entire outfit pop, are fun because they are easy to wear with multiple outfits!

My Outfit:
Modern Straight Green Pants from Loft
Black V-Neck T shirt from Gap
Leopard print Cardigan from Banana Republic
Nude Heels from Target

Do you have any pieces of merchandise that you wear that make your outfit POP? If so, let me know

Daily Outfit Post: Work Attire

Since I work at Loft, I am required to dress up and look the part of a Loft employee.  This is not a problem for me since I enjoy dressing up so much! On the days I work I will try to capture my attires to show everyone how to dress cute & professional but still be comfortable.  I am usually on my feet for 7 - 8 hours a day when I work, so I tend to wear flats.

Outfit:
My black dress is from Loft and is currently on sale in stores & online.  It comes in a blue color.
My cardigan is from Old Navy, I have had this cardigan for the past couple of years and I always keep it every year because it makes my eyes even bluer!
My necklace is from Forever 21 and was only $8.00! It was definitely a steal.  I couldn't find the exact necklace of mine online but it is quite similar!
My shoes are from Payless Shoes.  This has been my best investment in the past couple of months.  They were only $16 and are perfect for ladies who work in retail! They even come in black!

Inside & Outside my closet.

Since this blog is all about fashion, outfit posts, & everything in between, I decided to give you a view inside my closet!

This is the view of my closet.  All of my clothes are color coordinated.  However, I need to organize them by season! I have a lot of long - sleeve shirts mixed in with my spring attire!

This is where I usually keep my sweaters.  I don't like to hang my sweaters because it stretches them out.  I purchased this piece of furniture from Target and it is perfect to put sweaters on, keep my DVDs organized, and other storage bins.

On the back of my closet door, I have my scarves, belts, & necklaces.  I have had this back of the door fixture since I moved to college and it has yet to disappoint! Since I am in a rush most of the time, throwing my scarves and belts on this fixture keeps must of my accessories organized and looking neat!

Now that you have seen the inside of my closet, let me see how you organize your closet! Send me your link to your blog and I will definitely give it a view!

Wonderful Wednesday Trends: Bright Day Dresses

Spring 2012 is filled of different fashion trends for all the ladies to follow!

My favorite trend that I plan on embracing is the Bright Day Dresses.  A Wrap, Shift, Strapless, Sheath, A-Line, Empire, & Shirtdress all cater to each different type of lady.  Accessories for bright dresses are a breeze.  They should be paired with nude high heels or even flats.  Then let a simple necklace lay on top of your colorful dress.  Since spring is full of wild colors so why not your closet be also?

Curvy Ladies
For curvier ladies, I would look for a Wrap or Sheath dress.  These dresses will show off that waistline of yours.

Short Ladies
For shorter ladies, the Shirtdress or Empire style dress will be your saving grace.  You will want these dresses because they will fit your petite figure perfectly.

Boyish Ladies
The dresses that will fit you will be the Shirtdress or Wrap Dress since they add curves.  You should invest in a belt for these dresses!

Full/Small Bust Ladies
The ladies who were blessed with a full bust, you should dresses that have open necklines and nipped-in waists.  These dresses are going to be Shirtdresses and Wrap style dress.  And if you were blessed not as much (smaller bust), you should try the A-line or Shift style dress.  These styles show off your trim silhouette.

Tummy Problem Ladies
If you have troubles with your tummy area, look for dresses that do not accent the waistline and look for monochromatic dresses.  The dresses that are going to help you the most are Shift and Empire style dresses.

My top 3 Bright Day Dresses
1. H & M $29.95 - This dress is perfect for short or boyish figure ladies!

2.  Zara $79.90 - This dress will fit short figure ladies & those with a small bust!

3. J. Crew $79.50 - Curvy figured ladies have found their match with this dress!
The great thing about all 3 of these dresses is putting your entire outfit together will be a breeze.  Just pair them with nude heels or flats.  Then belt them with a fun printed belt to show off your waistline.

Now off you go to find the perfect Bright Day Dress!

welcome to southern manner!

For my first post at Southern Manner I wanted to give my readers a preview of what to expect from this blog.  I have tendencies to organize almost everything I am involved in, so this blog won't be any different.

This blog will hold a variety of topics that will help the every day girl find their way in the world of fashion.
The topics of this blog will include: tips on styling clothes, current trends & how to wear them, daily outfit posts inspired from the web, past & current fashion icons, and random posts of favorite music, pins, laughable jokes, and sport news.

I am excited to start this blog and see it grow.  I love helping people find clothes that make them feel great about themselves and I like it even better when it is at a great price!  I hope I have set the bar high for this blog and I hope my readers will hold me to this bar.
