stripes & pearls

Hey ladies!

Since yesterday was my only day off, I decided to lay around my house in my pjs all day! Towards the end of my lazy afternoon, I had to get ready and go look around town for new houses with my new roommate!  We found a couple of good houses during our adventure around town and then we ended the night with Red Elephant, which is an awesome restaurant in Tallahassee.  They have the best Bar-b-Que Chicken Pizza!

This is my outfit that I wore while we were trying to decide on new houses!  I thought about being lazy & just wearing this tank top with a pair of jeans but I talked myself out of it.  I threw on these olive green pants from Gap and my all time favorite jean jacket.  I figured this was a tad bit dresser than my plain 'ol jeans.

When you are feeling like having a lazy day, what makes you get out of that mood?

color blocking with blues

Happy Tuesday ladies!

I am little late posting my outfit from yesterday because I have been shamelessly watching The Vow while crying my eyes out and trying to drink my afternoon coffee.
While watching this movie, my ears fell in love with this song.  It's called Nothing Was Stolen by Phosphorescent.  Give this tune a listen!

Anyways enough about romantic movies, here is the outfit I wore yesterday!  Since the weekend was extremely busy, I wanted something very calm & casual for my Monday afternoon.  I wanted to wear my new Gap cardigan that I found at the outlet so instead of pairing it with my coral colored pants or white crop pants, I went with my light blue pants.

Color blocking is the main focus of this outfit and I love the two blue hues together.  I am also glad that I paired a white t-shirt to keep the two colors separate and to keep my outfit very casual.

If you wanted to add a pop of color, I would suggest putting a red or coral color shirt underneath.  You could also add a striped shirt underneath the cardigan to add a little bit of pattern to your outfit!

Here is my arm candy for the day :)

My Outfit:
Cardigan: Gap Outlet
T-Shirt: Loft
Necklace: Forever 21
Broken in Straight: Gap
Shoes: Payless Shoes

If you have tried color-blocking in your outfit, how did it go for you?  Did you like it? If so, share!

Sweater + Dress = Bliss

My Sunday outfit for Mother's Day was some what thrown together.  Since I was home for the entire weekend, I visited the Gap Outlet in Lake Park, Georgia.  There I found this sweater for $13.99, which I had to purchase!

Since it is basically summer down here in North Florida, I paired it on top of a white strapless dress.  Then I belted it with a rustic, antique looking belt, that I found in my mom's closet.  To complete the outfit I just threw on my tan wedge heels and viola, a complete outfit for church!

My outfit:
Sweater: Gap Outlet
Dress: Plato's Closet
Belt: Borrowed from my Momma
Shoes: Target

Here is a close up of my sweater & belt.

Casual Saturday Attire

Hey ladies!!

One more post from this weekend! It is a short one, I promise.  But I wanted to show off my little sister & her prom date!

Since I was helping out with my sister getting ready for prom, I threw on something comfy & casual.  I think those two words could be used to describe everything I wear.  However, I dressed up the outfit a tad by adding this chunky neutral necklace.

My Outfit:
Chambray Shirt: Gap
Tshirt: Target $8, It was definitely a steal!
Cropped Pants: Loft
Shoes: Bakers
Necklace/Bracelet: Borrowed from my Momma
Sunglasses: Loft

This is my little sister & her prom date, don't they look fabulous!

Even though we are sisters, we are totally different in the way we style ourselves.  But that is the good thing about fashion, everyone has a different view on it!

If you have a little or older sister, are your fashion styles the same or different?

Lace & Denim

Happy Monday ladies!

I woke up this morning, with a thunderstorm looming outside my window.  Since today is not pretty, I decided to post my outfit from Friday night.  My sister, roommate, & myself went to Brown Lantern, in Live Oak, and enjoyed a nice dinner together.  This restaurant has the best popcorn shrimp, fried mushrooms, potato skins, & well ... everything they serve is delicious! So if you are ever passing the Live Oak, Florida exit on 1-10,  you should definitely make a pit stop and eat there!

Okay, enough about food.  Let's talk about my outfit.

Wearing denim on denim, sometimes can be difficult.  Since my shorts are a dark wash denim, I threw on my denim jacket and the contrasting washes complemented each other.  The other reason I wanted to wear my denim jacket was to make my outfit more casual for the evening dinner date.

I wanted a close up of my off-white lace shirt.  I found this shirt at Banana Republic during the Christmas holidays for extremely cheap.  It has slowly but surely become one of my favorite pieces of clothing in my closet.  The necklace is from Target.  I found it in my Momma's collection of beautiful necklaces so I had to wear it for the night.

My Outfit:
Jean Jacket: Gap Outlet
Lace Shirt: Banana Republic
Shorts: Loft
Necklace: Borrowed from my Momma

Hope your Monday is better than my rainy Monday in Tallahassee!!

Summer Stripes

Hello ladies!

The drive to my hometown is extremely short from Tallahassee and since I am queen of comfort, I wanted to make sure I stayed in that comfort zone.

I found this dress cleaning out my closet a couple of weeks ago, so for a drive home, this was a perfect opportunity to wear it.  The dress didn't come with a belt however, the reason I belted it is to make my waist look smaller.  I decided to add the pink/blue striped scarf because it looked like a fun addition to my outfit!

For my hair style, I decided on doing a sock bun!  For a quick tutorial, head to this link, and it so easy to do!

My Outfit:
Dress: Old Navy
Scarf: Gap
Shoes: Bakers
Belt: Loft
Sunglasses: Loft

LBD + Blazer

Happy Friday ladies!

During my busy day of packing, cleaning, & laundry yesterday, I managed to put together a comfy yet casual outfit for work.

I am a large fan of my LBD (little black dress).  I found it at Goodwill for $7 bucks and it is from Ann Taylor.  I have worn it underneath a blouse & I wore it for one of my best friends, Mary - Hannah's bachelorette party.  Thrift shopping can be a great success or a waste of time.  Usually when I thrift shop, I like to have an open mind and plenty of time to waste.  It is crazy at what you can find at thrift stores.

I thought about wearing my bright blue necklace with this outfit but I chose my orange necklace because I liked the bohemian vibe of my outfit.

My Outfit:
Blazer: Loft, last season
Necklace: Forever 21
Dress: Ann Taylor, found at Goodwill
Shoes: Payless Shoes

How do you spice up your LBD?

morning coffee run

Happy Thursday ladies!

When I woke up this morning, I realized that I had no Keurig cups for my Keurig machine.  Let me tell you, I thought my morning was going to to be in the dumps.  Instead of letting this mishap ruin my Thursday, I threw on a pair of shorts, tshirt, & jean jacket and headed to my favorite coffee shop in Tallahassee, Bagelheads.
I wanted to share this outfit because it is such an easy outfit to throw together when in a rush.  Don't mind my face, I have no make up on and I threw my hair up in a pony tail because I was in desperate need of some coffee in my system!

If you aren't a shorts wearing girl, then wear a boyfriend style jean with a cute scarf.
If you aren't a fan of tennis shoes, throw on a jeweled pair of sandals.
If you aren't a fan of jean jackets, wear a comfy, lightweight sweater.
Since I am a fan of comfort, I wear what I think is comfort.  Everyone has different views on comfort so just find what that is!

My Outfit:
Jean Jacket: Gap Outlet
Shirt: Scoop Neck Tshirt from Loft
Shorts: Urban Outfitters

My Breakfast:
Cup of Coffee & a Vanilla Dream muffin

Hope y'alls Thursday rocks!

Printed Pants Take 2

Since I bought these printed pants from Loft last month, I have been trying to figure out how to style them other than the first time I wore them.

I couldn't decide on how crazy I wanted to style these pants.  So I tried these options:

I thought about pairing my off-white cream colored top with my pants but I didn't have the courage to actually wear it.  I think if I would have had some encouragement from someone I might have worn it but I chickened out.  I thought the two different textures went well together.

I also thought about pairing the pants with a green jeweled colored blouse.

But I decided to go with a more casual, blue blouse.

My Outfit
Blouse: Loft
Pants: Loft
Shoes: Payless Shoes

Do you ladies think I made the right decision?

Comfort with Cardigans

Yesterday was all about comfort with my outfit.  This cardigan has become a staple in my closet for the past 3 years.  I paired it on top of a white Scoop Neck T shirt from Loft then wore my skinny jeans from Gap.  I could have worn a wider jean opening but I think pairing my skinny jeans with this outfit made it look a little dressier.

This pair of earrings are from Country Dollar, the store I talked about in my last post, with the $1 merchandise!  I love the blue print on them.

My Outfit:
Cardigan: Forever 21
T- Shirt: Scoop Neck Tee from Loft
Earrings: Country Dollar
Jeans: Skinny Jeans from Gap
Shoes: Wedges from Target

I forgot to wash my hair before work, so instead of curling it like I planned, I had to throw it up in a sock bun.  Instead of doing a high sock bun, I decided to do a low one.  Which bun do you like better?

Hope ya'll have an awesome hump day!

Coral Pants

When spring classes were still in session, I wore this outfit to class!  With work and blogging other outfits, I guess this outfit slipped my mind to post!

I love colored pants, just ask any of my friends!  If I have the choice, I would wear them every day.  I found these broken-in straight pants from Gap.  They fit like a glove and they can easily be dressed up or down.

You will find that I pair these pants with many different types of tops.  But for this particular day, I wanted to wear a casual white blouse with a pop of blue in my necklace!  This way it keeps the outfit very casual for my mile-long walk on campus to class.

My outfit:
Broken in Straight Pants - Gap
Blouse - Loft
Necklace - Gifted from my momma
Shoes - Payless Shoes

What do you ladies think of colored pants?

Nude Hues

Happy Tuesday ladies!

This past weekend & Monday has been very busy with work, my sister & mom coming to visit, & working on a new adventure with other bloggers for the LPF Magazine.

For Sunday, I wanted an outfit that would be more comfortable than anything.  I paired my white cropped Loft pants with an off-white silk blouse.  Pairing different hues can be tricky but can be done effectively!

For jewelry, I paired these big antique earrings.  I found these at the Country Dollar, a family owned store in Tallahassee.  Everything in their store is a $1, it is definitely a good store to get merchandise to mix and match!  They have two locations in Tallahassee, so if you get a chance you should definitely go check them out!

I hope everyone's week has started off good!

Chambray Love

Happy Friday, again, ladies!!

Today, I sported a Loft dress with a chambray top.  I initially was going to wear the Loft dress by it self, I scored it on final sale for $14.88.  However, it was a tad tight around my behind area.  So I just added my favorite Chambray top around it with a belt and viola ..  A complete outfit!

I wanted to wear my pearls with this dress, so to add a little extra spark I paired my bird necklace with it!

Layering clothes can be quite difficult at times however, you have to remember your outfit needs to remain one.  You want the pieces to complete each other not throw your entire outfit off.  This might be my favorite outfit so far on my blog!  It was extremely comfortable and I got a lot of great comments on it from work!

What do ya'll think my favorite outfit has been so far on my blog?

Blazers in the Summertime

Happy Friday ladies!!

For the past week, Tallahassee has been HOT.  The weather on Monday hit around 92 degrees and it has only cooled down a couple of degrees throughout the week.  So instead of dressing in a tee shirt to work (like I always do), I decided to dress up my black tank with an old blazer I found in my closet.

The blazer is perfect for this weather since it is 100% Linen, however I had a problem with the wrinkles.  The iron and I had a pretty hard battle but I think I conquered all the wrinkles in the blazer.

I paired this lightweight blazer with my favorite pair of cropped pants from Loft.  Cropped pants have never been a necessity of mine but ever since I tried the Curvy fit, I have fallen in love with them!

I found this cute bird necklace from Target yesterday, when I went in for a new planner.. I came out with a new necklace & earrings plus the planner.  But anyways, that is a whole different story.  The earrings & necklace were in a pack together for only $4.99, so if you are in love with this, I would definitely go pick it up!  It's definitely a steal.

My Outfit:
Blazer: Loft, 1 year ago
Tank: Target
Cropped Pants: Loft
Shoes: Payless Shoes
Necklace: Target

What is the latest steal that you have found?  Let me know, so I can check it out!  I hope everyone has a lovely Friday!

Blue Hues

Good morning ladies!

Yesterday was a day for the books!  I got to clean my kitchen, read all my favorite blogs & had a busy day at work.  As I was looking through my closet trying to get ready, I realized that I own a lot of blue clothes!  I love wearing the color blue solely because it brings out the blue in my eyes.

I am wearing one of my favorite Scoop Neck Tees from Loft.  These shirts are staple items that are easy to dress up or dress down.  While going through my closet yesterday, I found these white pair of jeans that I found at TJ Max last year.  When I tried them on they fit perfectly so I had to wear them.  I paired a gold wedge with this outfit, just to make my outfit a little dressier for work.

My Outfit:
Shirt: Loft, Scoop Neck Tees
Jeans: TJ Maxx, Lucky Brand
Belt: Gap
Shoes: Target
Necklace: Borrowed from my awesome momma

Daily Outfit Post: Keepin' it Cool

The first day of summer break was yesterday and I ended up leaving my house in a pair of jeans ..
Crazy right? I thought so.
To make my outfit a little bit cooler, I paired my Gap skinny jeans with my tan sheer top from Loft.  Since I have purchased this top, I have worn it countless times in many different ways (sorry for not posting them!).
For styling the sheer top, I tucked in the right side of the shirt and then left the left side untucked for a casual fun summer style.
For jewerly, I wore a pair of yellow earrings and a pair of bangles.

My outfit:
Jeans: Always Skinny from Gap
Blouse: Loft
Shoes: Payless Shoes

P.S. I promise one day I am going to teach myself  the settings on my camera and not take them on my  iPhone!!

Daily Outfit Post: Polka Dots Galore

Happy Sunday ladies!

So far today has been quite eventful.  I keep learning new things at work, got to chit chat with my roomie before she went home for the summer, & I got to chat with my sister while we were both watching the basketball playoff games!

Today's outfit was inspired by comfort.  On Sundays, I like to wear an outfit that I could curl up on the couch and nap in.  This outfit has definitely been it and I plan on napping shortly!

I have a large obsession with pearls.  If I can choose, I want to wear my pearls with every single outfit.  They definitely hold some awesome memories from the past 5 years.

My entire outfit is from Loft.  The maroon colored scoop neck tee has to be my favorite tee shirt of all times.  I plan on purchasing every single color because they are the perfect staple item!

Where does your favorite staple item come from?

Daily Outfit Post: Printed Pants

This past Friday, was a celebration since finals week was complete.  I had to work all day but that did not stop me from dressing on the wild side.

Printed pants are definitely a way to spice up a Friday at work.  I have always had a fear of wearing printed pants since I have a larger tush/thighs area.  After trying on these pants at Loft, I fell in love with them.  A girl at work actually told me that they made my legs look slimmer so that definitely calmed my fears!

Most people would pair these crazy pants with a neutral colored top but not me.  I wanted this outfit to stand out and let people take notice!  I think I might have pushed it a little with this necklace but I had to wear it, it's too pretty to not wear.

Are there any trends that you are afraid to try?  If so, let me know!
